Installing Applications on Xperia X10 Tutorial

There are many ways of  installing an android application(app) on your phone but in short its all the same and very simple.

Prerequisites

On your Xperia X10 goto Settings ->Applications -> Put a Check on Unknown Sources.

Scenario 1)

Assuming you're using Computer as the place you will be downloading the application file(*.apk) and not your phone.

Method 1) Using the Data Cable.

Step 1) Download the app(*.apk) from the above link on to your desktop or any location of your choice.


Step 2) Connect your Xperia X10 using the Data Cable with your Computer.


Step 3) On Xperia X10 pull down the notification bar from the top and click on USB Connected -> Mount.


Step 4) Goto My Computer/Computer Depending on the OS. Under Devices with Removal Storage, find "Phone card" (or whatever name you have assigned to your SD card) drive.


Step 5) Double click on the Phone Card(Drive).


Step 6) On your Phone Card. Browse to \Download (or any folder of your wish where you like to dump the installable file).


Step 7) Copy the *.apk file from Step 1 and paste it in \Download and confirm if its been copied to your phone.


Step 8) On Xperia X10 pull down the notification bar from the top and click on Turn Off USB Storage -> Turn off.


Step 9) On Xperia X10, Goto Android Market and Search for the app called "Astro File Manager" and install it on your X10. (skip this step if you already have this app on your phone)


Step 10) On Xperia X10, Goto Menu and open the Astro File Manager and browse to the folder \Download.


Step 11) Find the *.apk file from step 7 and click on it.


Step 12) click on Open App Manager -> Click Install.






Method 2)  Using Bluetooth.

There is not much difference between Method 1 and Method 2.


Step 1) Download the app(*.apk) from the above link on to your desktop or any location of your choice.


Step 2) Turn the Bluetooth on and on discoverable mode on Xperia X10 from Settings.


Step 3) Transfer the app to your phone via Bluetooth.

Step 4) On Xperia X10, Goto Android Market and Search for the app called "Astro File Manager" and install it on your X10. (skip this step if you've already installed this app on your phone)

Step 5) On Xperia X10,Goto Menu and open the Astro File Manager and browse to the folder \Bluetooth.

Step 6) Find the *.apk file from step 1 and click on it.

Step 7) click on Open App Manager -> Click Install.

Method 3)  Using ADB (for advance users)

Scenario 2) 

Assuming you're using Phone as the place you will be downloading the application file(*.apk) directly.

Step 1) Download the app(*.apk) from the above link on to your phone.

Step 2) On Xperia X10, Goto Android Market and Search for the app called "Astro File Manager" and install it on your X10. (skip this step if you've already installed this app on your phone)

Step 3) On Xperia X10,Goto Menu and open the Astro File Manager and browse to the folder \Download.

Step 4) Find the *.apk file from step 1 and click on it.

Step 5) click on Open App Manager -> Click Install.
