We’ve heard all kinds of news surrounding the Xperia X10 Éclair update, but what we haven’t seen was a definitive list of benchmarks versus Android 1.6. Swedroid do the honours here after they managed to get hold of some pre-release Android 2.1 firmware directly from Sony Ericsson.
You can check out the charts below, but it’s clear to see that the new update brings significant performance benefits over most of the tests. The only test where it scored lower (marginally) was the Neocore 3D benchmark. In their tests, Swedroid also show that the amount of working RAM is now 280MB versus 275MB previously. They also gave a video hands-on of the new firmware that we’ve attached below.
Note: The phone they played with was running 2.0.A.0.497 firmware (the latest certified build is 2.0.B.0.127) with baseband of 2.0.44 and kernel of 2.6.29.
